From comedy to drama and from improv to acrobatics, the local arts scene is heating up as the weather cool downs.
Topping this month’s arts and culture calendars is the Fringe Festival, a massive, citywide celebration of experimental and envelope-pushing performances. Shows take place at venues large and small, including many right by your Dalian on the Park apartment in Fairmount.
With a very wide range of performance styles, art lovers of all stripes can be suited at the festival. Here are a few of the hottest shows coming to our neck of the woods:
Last Ditch Playlist — The new play by Brad Baron is being staged at Performance Garage, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment. The show explores love and loss with the support of music and dance.
Who Rocks the Party — Philly’s leading DJs come together for a chat about the city’s music scene at South Kitchen & Jazz Bar, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment.
Mesmerized — Comedy and intrigue unite in this interactive hypnosis show at Warehouse on Watts, a mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment, featuring performer Frank Perri.
The No Know Show — Brian Shapiro presents a one-man production sharing often-comedic, sometimes-poignant stories from his past at Paris Wine Bar, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment.
Elemental Forces — Modern-dance company Dancefusion explores the power of collaboration at Performance Garage, a half-mile from your Dalian on the Park apartment.
