If you’ve ever wanted to go behind the scenes of your favorite superhero movies to see how all the magic is made, now’s your chance! The latest exhibit swooping into the Franklin Institute, six blocks from your Dalian on the Park apartment, gives visitors a bird’s eye view of the superhero universe with interactive, hands-on experiences that comic lovers of all ages will enjoy.
“Marvel: Universe of Superheroes” opens this month at the famed science museum and will entertain audiences as the center’s main exhibit through the end of the summer. Just what can you find in this new display? Everything to awaken your inner comic nerd!
There are more than 300 artifacts celebrating the storied history of the Marvel universe, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Visitors can get up close and personal with rare comic book pages and hand-drawn images from original cartoonists and learn about the history of the world’s most well-known comic brand. The Marvel film studio is celebrating its 10th year and will also have a considerable presence in the exhibit, with plenty of props, costumes, sculptures and never-before-seen photos from your favorite Marvel movies. Because of the anniversaries, the exhibit will use the milestones to trace how pop culture has influenced Marvel’s work over the years, connecting its major books and movies to wider cultural trends.
In keeping with Franklin Institute’s commitment to education in action, the exhibit is highly interactive. Visitors can see themselves transform digitally into Iron Man, snap selfies with life-sized versions of their favorite superheroes (and a few villains, too!) and try their own hands at bringing the comic-book world to life.
The exhibit is a reimagined version of a similar show that premiered in Seattle—drawing more than 300,000—and this local take is sure to also be a big hit, so grab your tickets now!
